The Administration of the Comune Ercolano and the Association “I Solisti Napoletani” in collaboration with Campania Region and the Province of Naples, the organizations of The National Park of Vesuvius, TESS Vesuvius Coast line and Ville Vesuviane are organizing  the XV International Competition for Lyric Singers “Città di Ercolano”, past Zonta, “Ritorna Vincitor.

Art. 1 - The Competition is open to lyric singers, (also sopranisti, contraltisti and controtenori) of both sexes and any nationality, for female voices born after 6th of October 1975 and for male voices after 6th of October 1973. The attached application form for admission (or fac-simile) must be sent, by registered post, to the Secretariat of the Competition, Association “I Solisti Napoletani”, Via Ulivi n° 8, 80056, Ercolano, Naples, Italy before the 24th of September 2009 (the postmark-date will be a proof) or by FAX 081 7390152, from abroad FAX +39 081 7390152 and e-mail: ingameli@virgilio.it.
All application materials must be received before 24th of September 2009.

Art. 2 - Candidates must enclose with the attached application form (or fac-simile), completed, typewritten or in block letters:
a) copy of identity-card, passport or another valid document;
b) two recent photos;
c) copy of bank receipt for registration fee € 50,00 (euro fifty) to:

Registration fee will be reimbursed only in case of cancellation of the Competition.

d) the list of passages to perform during the contest:
• d.1 - Prizes Ritorna Vincitor 2009: five passages, one piece must be of the “Compulsory Passages” (listed art. 20);
• d.2 - Prizes “Georg Friedrich Händel” Section Barocca (facoltative participation): three passages of  reportery barocco 1600 - 1700 (candidates’ own choise) (vocalizations required);
• d.3 - Prizes “Ernesto Tagliaferri” (facoltative participation): two “Canzone napoletana” - “Classical Neapolitan Song” - candidates own choice;
All pieces must be sung from memory in original tonality and language, at least in two different languages.
e) photocopies of  the passages mentioned above;
f) Certificates of attendance from Conservatory or Music-schools, necessary for assignation of scholarships (art. 11).

Art. 3 - The candidates are free to use their own pianists at their own expense.

Art. 4 - The candidates must be present, Tuesday 6th of October 2009 at 9:00am at the Secretariat of the Competition in Villa Campolieto, Corso Resina nr. 283, Ercolano, Naples, Italy provided with identity-card or another valid document. Only the organization can decide to admit or not candidates arriving after the official call - depends on the giustification of the delay. The roll-call will be in alphabetical order, decided by a draw before each of the stages.

Art. 5 - All the Auditions in Villa Campolieto and MAV Museum will be held in public:
a) Preliminary Rehearsal: Villa Campolieto, Tuesday, 6th and Wednesday 7th of October 2009 at 11:00am each candidat will perform the “Compulsory piece” (listed art. 20) and one passage of own choice from those listed by the candidate;
b) Ssemifinal: Villa Campolieto, Thursday, 8th of October 2009 at 11:00am, each candidate will perform two passages chosen by the Jury from those listed by the candidate;
c) Final stage-Concert: Prizes “Georg Friedrich Händel”:Villa Campolieto Thursday, 8th of October 2009 at 8:00pm;
d) Final stage-Concert: Prizes “Ernesto Tagliaferri”: MAV Museum Archaeological Virtual, Via IV Novembre n° 44, Ercolano, Naples, Italy, Friday, 9th of October 2009 at 7:00pm;
e) Final stage-Concert: Prizes “Ritorna Vincitor”: MAV Museum Archaeological Virtual, Via IV Novembre n° 44, Ercolano, Naples, Italy,Saturday, 10th of October 2009 at 7:00pm.
The Finalists  performs the “Compulsery piece” accompained by orchestra.
Evening-dress is requested for the 3 final stage-Conserts.
At the end of the auditions c) d) e) the Jury will announce the winners and award the Prizes.The finalists of the Prizes “Ritorna Vincitor” are obliged  to perform the “Compulsory piece” together with the orchestra on Friday, 9th of October 2009, otherwise they will be excluded, irrevocably, from the competition.

Art. 6 - Winners of other international competitions for lyric singers after 1st of October 2007 will be admitted to the semifinal audition, Thursday, 8th of October 2009 if the secretariat has received the application form for admission, with adequate certification enclosed, before 24th of September 2009. These applicants must be present for roll-call to the semifinal audition at the secretariat in Villa Campolieto on Thursday, 8th of October 2009 at 9:00am.

Art. 7 - The Committee of Jury is formed  by well known Italian and foreign  musicologists and managers.
If Members of the Jury are related or has ever taught a contestant in the last two years, these Members of the Jury will abstain from voting on that contestant.

Art. 8 - At the end of the preliminary auditions the Jury will select the suitable contestants to be admitted to the semifinal audition by written votes. Contestants taking part in the semifinal and final audition will be rated on a scale from 1 to 10 (fractional) by secret ballot by each of the Jury Members.

Art. 9 - The Jury reserves itself the right to interrupt the performance of the contestants and also, if it is necessary, the right to listen the contestants performance again or just a part of it.

Art. 10 - The decision of the Jury is final and there will be no appeal against it.
